Hello everyone,

I have just joined this forum, and look forward to contributing.

First a bit on myself.

I have only been brewing since Oct 13, but on my brew number 11. I am glad I have discovered Geterbrewed in Randalstown, as I am fed up paying more for courier charges than my kits cost.

I have still not found my ideal brew – but narrowing it down. I prefer the darker ales, with a more hoppy bitter taste. I really liked the Norfolk Nog, but wasn't that impressed with the St Peters Ruby Red (although still very drinkable). I keg my beer, prefer that to bottles.

Sorry if it's longwinded

Hope to chat some more soon.

Ps. I am also on twitter. And not local, originally from SA

Welcome Gordon!
have you tried the Cooper's english bitter? It's a great kit and easy to modify to your taste.
What ingredients do you generally use?

Gordon_G

I used plain sugar in the past, but just finished a Coopers Stout, with brew enhancer. So finished with the normal sugar. I had just ordered the Coopers English ale, picking it up today, got it through Tesco for £13, not bad I think

you git! local tesco here charges €30 for a battered tin with missing instructions and/or yeast.
Coopers english ale? you sure it's not the english bitter or australian pale ale?

If you can get your hands on light dry malt extract, try with a kilo and brew to 20l.(up to 300grams sugar for an ABV boost if you want) It's cheaper and better than expensive brew enhancers, and will make far better beer than just straight sugar.

Also a hop 'tea' steep or a dryhop will go a long way :)

Just picked it up. Sorry, is coopers English bitter.. no probs with tin or yeast, instructions etc. Thank for the advice

Interesting, my folks live up that neck of the woods.  Can you call into the shop and pick up without paying courier charges?
