Hi lads. I bought a CO2 Cylinder a wee while back and only getting to set up up using corny kegs now. Turns out the outlet on my cylinder is female, as is the connection on the regulator. Did I buy the wrong cylinder or is there a threaded nipple I can buy to join the two?

dcalnan

Yeah that's a mixed gas cylinder, using an adapter isn't recommended, where did you keg the tank it looks like it's been around for a while. I actually think it might be an oxygen cylinder.

thats one of the old murphy ones looks manky if I'm being honest, are you sure its up to the job? I'm always really nervous of old tanks.

Somebody posted one recently not sure you might be better with a newer valve and tank tbh, eg 5 kgs €40 AJ edge filled.

Ah right...I think I'll take the hit on that one and get a new tank. Got it in Cork and didn't really take a good look when I was buying it. Thanks for the info!

Is there a brewery name on it and is it in test?  See if you can swap it for a new mixed gas tank sure.

aweisse

Ive mix gas tanks converted over to c02, i got the valves changed professionally.
Mixed gas tanks are a way stronger due to the higher pressures they can take and are safe to fill with c02.

problem is most homebrew regs are not designed to work with pressures from commercial mixed tanks, sure they have blow offs >:D.
Sorry lads I'm coming across as a wimp here but these fecking things could kill you.
Wills the expert here, I'll let him scare you.
