Got a nice Vintage Ale book from my wife for my birthday. The recipes however are all for All Grain brewing and I'm still just doing kits at the moment. Using a little bit of research I converted one of the recipes into a kit hack. By my calculations I will need to add 2kgs of DME to a 1.8kg Mangrove Jack Pale Ale pouch.
Does this sound right or is that way too much DME?

nah, you'll be fine. It should end up around 6%  :)

Im not familiar with mangrove jack kits but i just had a quick google and mangrovejacks.com says  ''1kg of Dextrose or Mangrove Jack's Brew Enhancer needs to be purchased in addition''.  For an abv of 4.7%
Thats about the same as 1Kg of dme so if you're adding 2Kg i reckon it would help to make a few litres of a hop tea to add to the fermenter to raise your bitterness/hop flavour aswell.
If you're already hacking kits, boiling a few hops is the next step anyway and i think if you add an extra kilo of malt without more hops it might make the beer a bit too malty.
If im wrong someone PLEASE correct me, i dont want to be giving dodgy advice to anyone but thats what i would do with this recipe

Thanks Drum.
The recipe I got is for a defunct IPA from the 1840's and has a LOT of hops in it. Just wanted to double check if the amount of DME made sense. Thanks for the heads up though  :)
