I plan to primarily use gas once I get all my gear back but was hoping to use an induction hob for smaller batches (or possibly full size)

If I was looking at a half batch of 10L or a full batch of 20L would a 2kw induction hob get me to a boil in a reasonable time (< 20 minutes) or am I better going with 3kw? I'm only finding 3kw hobs for > 100 euro which is over twice the price of a 2kw...

Have a look at this water heating time calculator to give you an idea.

Just remember, 1st you need to heat from ambient temp to strike temp. For the boil, you will be starting at mash temp.

Speaking from experience here, you'd want 3kW for 20L batches unless you are happy to wait all day. A 20L beatch will require ~25L boil volume. If you do go with 2kW make sure you insulate the kettle and put a lid on while you get it up to a boil.

Thanks everyone. I suspect I'll be going with mostly half batches and gas for full so I think for the price 2kw makes more sense
