Did my 1st all grain APA using an all grain kit from Geterbrewed. Seemed to go very well, did a batch sparge at perfect temperature etc followed instructions from another OnlineHBS which said after an hour give the grains a good stir... or did i pick that up wrong?
Anyhoo went thru all the steps didn't use a hose from the mash tun to the boiler(only read this after the fact in "How to brew" that it can cause oxidation. Got the Wort down to 22c banged in the yeast after rehydrating it... & nothing. Then a very weak "occasional" burp of co2. I have a Young's American Saison kit beside it which kicked off extremely well & is still chugging away a week later it has really put the other to shame >:( It had US05 yeast with it then i added a coopers yeast a week later after stirring etc usual kickstarts. Nada. Still smells like it's good though? still a good malty smell(even though i have opened the fv a few times). Now i'm wondering is there any way to save it? Or is there a step i have done wrong that has screwed it? My thinking is is to bang in the Slurry from the Saison when its done. Worth a try or down the sink & try again?

So you mashed in around 65C and left it for an hour, then transferred the wort from the grain to a boiler and boiled it for an hour, added the hops as per instructions, then cooled it to 22C and pitched the yeast. Did you first get a gravity reading before you added the yeast and if so did you take another reading now to confirm that no fermentation has happened.

Could co2 be just leaking out around the lid or where bubbled is pushed into lid?. I've had both happen.

No Dempsey no og reading & yes the rest as above... Just did a reading doh! Its about 1010 or so must have a leak...had a sneaky sip tastes like good green beer! Thanks lads gonna bottle up in the next day or so my 1st AG!

Ha haa well done. Metinks that de use of a hydrometer at the beginning of ferment and then a follow on after a few days fermenting is on the cards for the future  :)

Hello, just read your post. Lovely ending! It happens everyone once, with me it was a faulty air lock with a hole in it. You will find all grain brewing highly addictive, I'm just about to brew AG no.6. I am totally hooked!😊
