Coopers Pilsner kit

Hi guys wondering if you can help me. Brewed up the Coopers Pilsner kit on Sunday. Pitched the yeast at 20c as per instructions.

Can't tell if fermentation has started yet (pitched yeast 36 hours ago). No sign of krausen or airlock doing anything.

I was a bit concerned as the yeast package had injetted onto it 07014, which after contacting the homebrewcompany, I found out is the manufacture date.

LordEoin

Yeah, that code means that it was packaged on the 70th day of 2014, so the 11th of March?
It should still be fine provided it was treated well on its journey from australia and its life sitting on a homebrew shop's shelf.
No guarantees of either of those though.
36 hours isn't too bad for a lager yeast so don't worry just yet. I put on a coopers pilsner kit recently and it took off after about 48 hours.
Maybe get yourself a packet of 34/70 as a backup just in case it never starts fermenting.

Cool. I'll order some today. Thanks a million.

have brewed this twice recently.
Pitched around 22 and cooled it in the shed and kept it at 13-14. First one took more than 48 hours to get going, little or no Krausen in the first week.  Wasn't in a rush to bottle it, it had brewed out somewhere between 3-4 weeks.
Second one was a bit quicker and brewed out after 3 weeks.

EDIT - I hydrated the yeast both times, the second one I hydrated it a bit warmer, 24C

How did it turn out? How would it compare to commerical pilsners?

LordEoin

I really like this kit. It's my favorite lager kit.

Turned out really good for me.

I've been doing some hacking to it - using 200g carapils a saaz hop steep and a saaz dry hop (25 g each)

Also brewed this http://www.coopers.com.au/#/diy-beer/beer-recipes/lager/detail/czech-pils/ which has turned out really good.
