Smithwicks or a Bass

Hi All
I want to brew a batch for my Father's birthday. If I can do something like Smithwicks or a Bass I'd say he'll want to start brewing himself. I am open to a kit or an extract kit. Can you recommend anything please? I am hoping to go to Homebrewest's new Dublin shop on Saturday and I might drop into the Motley Brew as well, seeing as I'm out that way-so something from their shelves would be the handiest. I've posted this in the extract section too.

Thanks!

Garry

I've removed your other post. The place isn't that big  ;)

I found this Smithwicks clone on Coopers forum;

2.23kg Light Liquid Malt Extract
200g Flaked Barley
130g Roasted Barley
250g Maltodextrin

19g EKG boiled for 40 mins
28g Fuggles boiled for 15 mins
Irish moss added last 10 mins of the boil
Wyeast 1084.

Or try this for kit.

Bubbles

The Coopers English Bitter kit would make a great base for an Irish Red. Just do a steep of some roasted barley and crystal malt and add to the kit.
