Guys,

I have made a copper manifold for use in my mash tun.
In testing it operates fine. But in actual use during a mash when im mixing the mash up the pipes become loose.

I never brazed them because it want to be able to clean them after use. So this is the reason that they can come apart.

Im thinking if i use some sort of tape around the ends of the pipes to make a tight fit between the sections they wont come apart easily.
Can I use masking tape? or even duct tape?
Is there some sort of issue with these items interacting with the mash, safety wise i suppose.

Don't braze them.
Pinch them so that they need a little effort to separate them, that should do.

Thats a good idea. I never would have thought of that!

Or use compression fittings. I use them on mine and they work perfectly. Dead space is only about a litre

I've the end pieces soldered on mine, it's all 1/2" copper pipe which separates from the lengths for easy cleaning.
