TheDrunkenDestrier

Hi all. I've been a lurker for a while, harvesting this forum for brewing knowledge while drinking beer enthusiastically and writing about it for a couple of years, but last month I finally bought some homebrew equipment. My first brew is conditioning: a Coopers IPA kit with 1kg of light dme , safale US-05 and a 50g cascade dry hop. The pic shows the beer at 1 week in the bottle. Reasonably clear and good enough to drink but definitely green - won't be having another til it's 2/3 weeks old.
Looking forward to next brew already, I guess its a standard for everyone here to have something fermenting at all times, that's my goal!

Welcome to the forum TheDrunkenDestrier.

The beer looks good! As its International IPA day, maybe you should try another!

In fact, I think it's also International Beer Day tomorrow. How many bottles did you make?

TheDrunkenDestrier

36 500ml bottles, so a whopping 5 litre loss from a 23l batch! I reckon it's down to hop pellet soakage and my very careful bottling; the pellets were thrown in loose so there was LOTS of debris and a big yeast cake, and I left around a litre and a half behind to avoid bottling any of the slurry.

Congrats TDD and welcome, good to finally have you on board!
Are you in the Bierhaus tomorrow night?

I'm working late but I'm hoping to make it there at some stage. Also looking forward to my first Rebel Brewers meet
