Those look fucking brilliant if you did 300L brews. Why am I even considering buying one. I have a problem

Ive seen them. Just so ye know u wont clean them if u dont have cip. Corny type lid and 6 foot high u wont hav an arm that long ! They are dished bottom not conical and u will need to change the fittings to suit ur setup. They arnt pressure vessels either. Good value  if  you hav a use for them. Id b sceptical of how suitable for homebrewing as u can get 10 sh cornies for same price.

It'd make a fine smoker. Useless for anything other than conditioning beer though. Im very skeptical about fermenting in em as there is just a 3/4" valve at the bottom. 250 litres of beer would have that valve rendered useless with yeast cake on top & no way of dumping it. Cant pressurise either as said already. Cant see a use for them from a sour beer angle either as a wine barrel is 50e & holds almost as much.

I wonder did they buy the job lot for brewing (i know they came from all the mcdonalds in Ireland) & have found to be not fit for purpose?
On tap: Flanders, Gose,
Fermenting: Oatmeal Brown, 200ish Fathoms,
Ageing: bretted 1890 export stout.
To brew:  2015 RIS, Kellerbier, Altbier.

Could probably talk to them at the RDS about it.

They are rated at very low pressure circa 2psi. Enough to keep beer fresh but not carbonated. 2 psi will keep med low carbonation at zero celcius. Ideally only conditioning vessels and would have uses in brewing but hav downsides e.g if you wanted to store large amount of homebrew to lager for a month after it was already fairly clear from fermenter then fill corneys and force carb cornies. But what home brewer wants 300 ltr of one beer style?

You don't have a problem Simon, what you have is a solution staring you in the face  :P

Buy 4.
HLT, MT, Copper, fermenter...

They are so cheap, big and shiny it's really tempting to say "f**k it, i'll find a use for them" but really what would you do with them?

Could you use them for fermenting/conditioning a huge cider batch?

I heard they had a few at the RDS as props, was anybody talking to the guys about them?
