Google Calender

As about half of all homebrewers are big into IT I thought I would ask:

Yesterday the Rugby Club calender lost all events from about mid September(2015) through inoto 2016.

Does this happen "now and again" in google calender.

Was it malicious? Can it be traced back?

Can the lost events be recovered?

Are not back ups taken like in Word and Excel?

Any help greatly appreciated

It's never happened to me but it doesn't sound impossible and of course there are plenty of reports around of the same issue (https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/calendar/importing-and-exporting/L0vinwfs_7M)

Probably not malicious, possibly a glitch on Google's end or, more likely, a badly written app trying to sync the wrong direction. How many people have write access to the calendar? That would be the first thing I'd review, and lock it down to a few trusted sources (giving everyone else read access).

Google say no, (https://support.google.com/a/answer/1084819?hl=en), though you might be able to try something like http://spanning.com/products/free-tools/undelete-for-google-calendar/ (Can't vouch for it, use with caution).

Are not back ups taken like in Word and Excel?

That's for Google Docs not Calendar.

Ah, assumed the calendar was in a spreadsheet.

Maybe use a spreadsheet from now on.
