Out of interest, what would you like to see happen with the club? I was thinking an actual brew session upstairs in Revolution if it was ok with flash - we could invite along a few interested friends to hopefully get them into it. There's been mention of a few different things over the last few months.

Ah yea, it's understandable - usually we have it scheduled for 3rd Sat of month, but mostly it's what suits most people.

Thanks - sorry for lack of pictures! Yep, Revolution have a nice stock of decent beers - they even have 5AM on tap IIRC!

For me in general i don't think there is enough emphasis on kit and kilo for beginners. Kits to avoid and kits that are good, what to put into a kit and what not. It may only apply to me since i seem to be the only kit and kilo guy down south but still a kit and kilo brew session might be nice? ;D

Since we don't live near the big smoke maybe a how to for all grain gear and where to get it and all the parts for mash tuns etc?

Look i am purely looking at this from a newbies point of view so apologies, thing is some of us can ONLY do kit and kilo but would like to learn more about ag as well ;D

Ok, I think that's a great idea. IMO the best way to learn is to do. So we should open up discussions about doing a session of both. I'll start a thread saying as much, and we'll go from there. Never mind about being a newbie (i've only been brewing for about a year), no one's a pro here (well apart from Tim and Grainne :P) every time we meet I think we all learn something new. If we do a brewing session it'll be good craic and we'll have something to show for it over the following number of months.

I think we should organise group events too - tasting sessions, brewery tours, trips all of that stuff. I guess the thing is to try and get the ball rolling - if we can have things that are happening quite regularly it means that almost everyone will be able to make some of the events - rather than it being a once off type of thing and most people not being around for it.

.. I did run it past Flash last year about doing an AG Demo - it was around the time of the harvest festival and he was really up for it - wanted to open it up to the public for a few quid - give them some craft tasters and what not - but due to other constraints on my end it never really came about ..
..some good ideas here though - brewery tours and what not - We did go down to the Well Last year for one of our meetings - I think it was the Lee Valley dudes that were doing an expo  at the time - that was good crack - I was told it was our Brew Club School Tour !!!

.. now off to read the article - like Tucan I'm usually straight into the Forum ... No Kissin !!!!
coz theres always something new to do

Brilliant, so it sounds like it's already been broached. Sure we can start to get things in motion, try and pin down a few dates here and there - see what suits people. If we try and organise say 6 outings for the rest of the year to specific places too that might be a good way to do it. That way we can get people confirmed for things and then have them sign up - makes it easier to organise then too!

Doesn't look like this Saturday is a runner tbh - i'll add it to the calendar for next week!

I'd love to attend a few of these things, but life has an awful habit of getting in the way - two sons who both play soccer, hurling, football and cricket always put a spanner in my proverbial works! I'd also be governed by train times - I can't drink and drive due to needing two hands for the steering wheel...
Still trying to raise the funds to get into this BIAB thing.
So if you want my address it's number one at the end of the bar,
Where I sit with the broken angels, clutching at straws,
And nursing our scars.

Have we knocked March meet on the head so? April next meet? :'(
