Just about to bottle this. Could almost drink it from the fermenter. O.G. was 24L @ 1.048. The website says it should be 4.9% but it's not moving from 1.014 so about 4.5%

I'll have about 21L after trub, how much dextrose should I batch prime with, does 95g sound about right? I Haven't made a stout for a while.

I normally use this to figure it out for me .More because i dont know what I`m doing half the time, rather than any wealth of knowledge on the subject.

Yeah that's where I got the 95grams. That's 2.0 co2 volumes but I'm not sure if that's appropriate for this.

If you ever go down the corny road that stout is outstanding on tap pushed with nitro

dk4545

I have 2 sad empty cornies but wanted to bottle this, and It should last a bit longer that way...(maybe) I'd say it would be beautiful on nitro but I'm not set up for that. One day...

Could you work out the co2 levels from the keg set up you had it in before ? I dont have or use any kegs at the moment ,but id assume you could work backwards from that .

Havent kegged a stout in a long time.

Haven't been brewing for very long but I've done a lot of stout. I always used to go for 2.0 vols (it must have been recommended early on) but the last batch I decided to aim for 1.8 vols. It's only a month in the bottle now but already I prefer it. Not quite as fizzy on the tongue and I like that with stout.

I'd be interested to hear anyone else's opinions/experience with this?

I stick around 1.8, defo under 2 for stout as I don't like it too fizzy

dk4545

Only ended up with 20L and I went with 90g which should be about 1.9 hopefully.

Pepin The Short

Should be nice man .plus once you get a few down the neck ,you can adjust that a little up or down .
PS, post a wee fallow up pic of how it turned out .

I'm no beer reviewer but yeah I'll post up a pic in a few weeks and a little mini review. Will be interesting to see how it develops with age.
