A vacuum gauge might be an option though?
Ps sorry Shanna post was meant for CH your reply hadn't shown up in my tapatlk
No hassle. Just as an aside that stainless plate you sent me has proved itself very useful. I added in an old stainless steel colander in that forms a dome to support the grain bed when recirculating the wort with my chugger pump.

You mean restrict my chugger

Ok I know nothing about herms :( so I'm curious

What's wrong with restricting the flow? Would u not get better heat exchange with a slower flow?

Surely u restrict flow when sparging😛

Did you not see what happened in ghostbusters?
You don't cross the beams, or restrict your chugger.

I've actually got a mash bag for the mash tun ...
After introducing a chugger in to my setup & it going even slower than normal I am looking on ways to speed up the cleaning of the mash tun. Would you have a link to where you got the mash bag?

Shanna
It's called the brew bag and it is a us company. Think brulophsy did a review and had a 10% off code as well. They make custom sizes or ones specifically for a keggle. Here's mine in place, going to add a cord through the eyelets to hold it in place better and a small hole in one of the support bands to fit my recirculating tube.

Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison
On Tap: IPA, Helles, Best Bitter

Colm you've really got yourself a sexy lil set up now!

Yeah pretty happy with it. Having it static makes the brewday a lot less painful. Still trying to speed things up - takes about 6 hours from start to finish, including cleanup.

I will be posting the ArdBir build and final config over the Xmas/January on my build thread. In the meantime, here's a teaser of how it is right now...

Why cant you throttle flow on the outlet of your chugger? Surely going full bore on the chugger for your herms is way too fast a flow rate? (not used my herms pot yet btw so have no clue)

FWIW I left both chuggers on running dry (by accident) from 6pm til 7am. Not a bother on em. They're a lot more resilient than ye think.

edit:  stuck some bleeder valves on mine for easier priming.

On tap: Flanders, Gose,
Fermenting: Oatmeal Brown, 200ish Fathoms,
Ageing: bretted 1890 export stout.
To brew:  2015 RIS, Kellerbier, Altbier.
