That's a ball ache of a process vs Cornys, full of the potential for infection for a Homebrewer  so unless you were commercial I don't understand, convince me!

JimmyM

I was offered a load of them a while back.
Id imagine they can, in certain situations, be "freer" than cornies. But thats it. in terms of equipment required to get the beer out evrything is more expensive and harder to come by in a personal capacity.
Formerly JamesM.

They have the same spear as any Heino keg so you need to have an implement to first remove the spear then cut off the small catch that prevents you removing the spear again. After that bob or whoever is your uncle :)

To remove the spear only needs a Bain wrench and a 2 cent coin.

1. I use an adapter footed with ball valves to vent the keg.
2. Basin wrench to unscrew the spear.
3. Then put the 2 cent coin under the adapter - this allows the centre to be pushed further down and unlocks the catch.
4.Lift spear out.

Took more longer to type than to do.

I would not recommend removing the safety catch as if unscrewed under pressure the spear will fly out if it's not present.

Lochlannach

I couldn't get any decent cornies at the time so I went with these and they've been easy to deal with.

When I build a proper brewery later this year I'm planning on making alliances for using a pump to clean them.

I won't have to take the spear out ad often then - every so often to verify my cleaning regime.

Lochlannach

Make me some offers if ye're selling.

Same procedure for Corny

1. Pop Lid

I think it's a bit like rolling your own fags it looks complicated but if that's your thing I guess?

Lochlannach

No dodgy seals on these ;-p
