Wrong tap shanks

Just got some new tap shanks from Ali yesterday but they don't fit my taps. I've looked all over for information on different tap shank types but the info is scant. Does anyone know more about the different types? I've attached a pic of the ones I have. There's a ring jutting out in front of the teeth that's stopping the tap coupling.

can you post pic of back of your tap

BrewDorg

Don't have them handy now but will post a pic at lunch. They are Intertap flow control taps. I've looked at other shanks and the teeth seem to be on the outside, which would work.

I'm not seeing the issue a picture showing the issue would help

Is is what the end of a normal shank is like,

It doesn't have the metal ring at the end just the teeth to join with the faucet, it must be that the shank is made for a very particular faucet.

BrewDorg

Spot on, that's what I was thinking. The metal part doesn't allow it to slip on. I'll throw up pics at lunch anyway

Pheeel

Huh! I don't think I have those teeth on my shank. It's kept in position with the collar

Pics attached. Should give a clearer view. I've ordered new ones anyway, so these ones are sale for anyone interested  :P

Pheeel

It looks like on yours the end of it with the teeth is the wrong way round, like it should be inside the shank

Yea it isn't right for my taps anyway. That metal piece also stops the coupler from reaching the tap threads

There are a lot of different beer taps/faucets around.

They nearly always are a 3 part system:

The tap itself
The shank that connects the tap to:
The pipework.

There are a HUGH number of combinations!

To be sure only buy a "tube to glass system" (i.e. all 3 of the above)

Even then you need to ckeck the o/d of the pipework (Heino tend to be 5/16), A lot more are 3/8"

Cheers Will. I bought new shanks from the same vendor as my taps. They say they're compatible so fingers crossed. Should have done it right the first time instead of trying to save a few quid.
