Leaking Corny keg

Good morning all,

I was wondering if anyone has a reliable method for fixing leaking corny kegs?

This is not a small leak either. When I put liquid in the keg and invert it the liquid comes streaming out of the corny.

I have fixed this in the past but adding two O rings which does the trick but it's really just a workaround.

I thought it might be the plastic feet on the lid that wasn't creating enough pressure to seal the lid but I put some shims under each foot but that did not fix the issue.

To me the opening is misshapen or the lid is not sitting properly. I've tried a few other lids and they are all the same.

I've got 3 kegs that have similar problems and rather than dump them I would prefer to try to get them back in working order again.

Any advice is welcome.

Thanks,

Mick

was the keg pressurised? they need to be to seal properly
try turning the lid around 180 degrees too they can be a bit fiddly.

I did pressurise one of the leaking kegs and that did the trick. The other ones are still leaking even under pressure

Yeah pressure and turning the lids works usually I've found. Also on one I've bent back the bit where the legs are supported on the lid, so that it puts more pressure on when closed.

I had this issue.

You could try lifting the corny, with the lid inserted, by the lid lever/handle so that the weight of the keg forms a seal between the lid o-ring and the gap. Then try pressurising the keg.

by over pressurising (2-3 bar) the keg you squash the o ring permanently.
Each lid should be kept with its own keg, try a new o ring and then switch lid 180 degrees, pressure should sort it

Thanks all,

Most of the kegs were sorted with a combination of the tips, one is fit for nothing though.

Put it into water and you will see bubbles coming from the leaking section
