Ok IT Nerd!

Go into Ebay and type in Project Box and it will bring you up thousands

I got my project box for my stir plate for 7 quid on ebay.
On tap: Flanders, Gose,
Fermenting: Oatmeal Brown, 200ish Fathoms,
Ageing: bretted 1890 export stout.
To brew:  2015 RIS, Kellerbier, Altbier.

JimmyM

The ebay ones are grand for price - but they look shit. Alot of them look shit TBH.

Its ok for a stir plate i suppose, ya don't have to look at it til ya have to use it.
But i've built a thingy to switch on/off my central heating - so it will be visible in the house so want to have something that looks half decent. But i suppose without having something custom made it prob wont look great either way.

Could you mod a domestic plug socket box?

Yeah i thought about that - but it would probably look as bad.
I think form a DIY point of view its hard enough to get all the bits sticking out nicely with well formed edges etc.
Best thing might be to go the opposite way and use clear perspex or whatever it is and don't hide anything at all. So it deliberately looks shit :)

You could try modifying some existing socket box with something like sugru?

That said it looks like hard work to make it look great: http://sugru.com/gurus/categories/sugru-hacks/topics/repaired-audio-plug-on-earbuds

Maybe get a digital photo frame(cheap ones here), mount it in a deep black normal frame (like this) and hide the electronics for the heating behind all that. You also get to show off nice pic's of whatever you want assuming there is some sort of power source available.

Every little helps

What are trying to make?
Why not DIY a box in Perspex - you can bling it with Blue LEDs etc.
Perspex is cuttable, stickable, drillable etc.

I bought this one for the Pi

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/230836894386?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Its pretty good -

Postage is annoying - So I ordered 3 while I was at it !

JimmyM

Now thats better but very Pi-centric
Cheers.
