sorry i was ment to reply sooner but im probably in, was just trying to sort out the logistics of it.
we see if i can sort out transport tomorrow so will know for certain over the weekend.
assuming its all good it would be a corny full as thats the easiest for transport.

Ciderhead

1. Paddy Bubbles - 27 litres
2. Shiny - 40 litres
3. Shanna - 40 litres
4. Cider head - 20-25 litres   45L if required
5. Rossa - 20 litres
6. Barfly 20L
7. AndrewL 20L (Me being cheeky but you did say yes!)

If Jimmy jumps on board we are good to go

BTW if anybody else wants to go for it jump in as I am sure Shiny, Shanna or I would be more than happy to pare back.

And to think 5hrs ago this was nearly dead, ok specifically for this project for anybody that needs ingredients collected from HBC to save you the €5, I am down there on Tuesday AM, please place and pay for your order and mark it for my collection.

Shanna

Beer fly where are you based?

If we could arrange a mutually acceptable time for collection (preferably with Shiny who I have promised transport with) then I could come over and collect you. Would you also need a lift back or I would you be back able to slum it from the day station?

Just realised... I decided at the start of 2013 that I was going to make more "session beers" this year.

My last three beers have been 8%, 7.5%, 7.5%. And now two batches of 10% porter. Jesus...  ???

Well it looks like we're full. Happy days.

There still seems to be a little confusion on other threads about the capacity of these barrels. Ciderhead, you're still comfortable that we're shooting for 163 litres?

If so, shiny and Shanna might be able to revise their plans downwards? (and breathe a sigh of relief?  :))

Bubbles

Oh, forgot to mention. There were some other interested parties, so speak now if you still want to participate. I'm sure the 40 litre contributors will have no problem scaling back their contributions slightly to allow other brewers to be involved.

Bubbles

Just messing about with the figures in spreadsheet here. If everyone rows back to 20 litres, we're nearly up on our target volume. I can do the extra 3 litres, as I'll have to do two brews anyway, unless anyone else wants to do it?

Paddy Bubbles 23
Shiny         20
Shanna         20
Ciderhead 20
Rossa         20
Barfly         20
Andrew         20
McGrath         20

TOTAL         163

I know it's been said already, but just bear in mind that with losses to hop soakage and trub (of which there will be plenty) we will each need to be targeting a volume greater than 20 litres in order to get 20 litres into the barrel.

Also, you could still brew a few extra litres to bottle separately as a "control". Might be nice to compare the barrel-aged porter against the original.

How as the 200L capacity magically dropped back to 160?

I thought 163 was the volume measured by Ciderhead last week....?

Has it officially been increased to 200?!?  ??? ;D

I sealed the bottom of a cut half barrel planter and filled with water
Measured using fermenting bucket
3x25 +15 litres,

THESE ARE 180 LITRE CASKS

Please factor this in for your groups

Sorry Will one last post here as its related to Vols above;

Just filled my other half barrel and its 1cm taller on the inside
4 x 25 Litres,

These are potentially 200L Barrels :o :o :o

That was what I was referring to, a good few posts back in the main Cask thread.

I've just read that myself! So we're probably better off shooting for the 200 litre mark. If we've any left over I'm sure it won't go astray.

Some playing around with the figures needed so. I'm sorry to be taking liberties and changing people's contributions here, but we need to see how the big picture looks. If you want to amend your own figures up or down, just holler.
