I'm kind of pre-announcing this here, but we've been and still are working on the NHC membership package. Full members will be entitled to the following:

HomeBrewWest: 5% off for NHC members.
Homebrew Company: 5% off for NHC members.
Sugru: 40% discount for NHC members.
McQuillans Tools: 10% discount for NHC members on non-sale items.
CAMRA: New members get option to receive publications electronically at the same price as regular membership for those in Britain.

We're thrilled and delighted to have the support of the above organisations.

Dedicated people are working behind the scenes to secure more affiliates that may be of interest to the homebrew community.

Full membership for 1 year will cost €10, and there is a special concession rate of €5 for anyone who entered the 2013 National Brewing Championships.

Any idea on the timeline for registering fro membership?

Ciderhead

I thought membership was voted on to be €20 for 12 months?, €10 for the remainder of 2013 and a fiver if you had entered the competition?

Not bothered either way now as its not my call in any case, however just not consistent.

Yea I thought that was the case as well, but as with ciderhead I feel that membership is worth more than that!

So is it €10 for the rest of 2013 (€5 for entrants to the competition) and €20 each year going forward?

Tom

I have no idea what a Sugru is, but 40% is a pretty decent discount.

Sorry, this doesn't seem to have been communicated well (at all). We can only do what our software allows us to do, and it only handles fixed term memberships, i.e. 12 month's worth. It doesn't follow calendar years and has no option to.

Membership bossman was consulted on this software limitation and as he will be printing all the membership cards anyway he's happy to not have a glut to print at the start of every year. So that was an unintentional benefit of this limitation.

The price can be changed at any time, but currently it's €10 with a €5 concession option.

Sorry struggling to understand what a software limitation has to do with what NHC charge for membership, is the forum software driving the membership total or vice versa :-(.
I better shut up now.

I feel like I've been Rick-rolled with that video.

So... how fermentable is Sugru... It's not? Oh... still, 40% off is pretty good.

Sugru is great stuff.

I got myself a very expensive remote control a while back, does any device programmable through the pc.

It cost me 350 euros.

I dropped it after a week or two and it caused a small crack in it, so I bought some sugru and built some bumpers.

I highly recommend the stuff.

Wow Eoin i was just about to slag off your crap phone.
You're crap phone looks like its a great remote curious as to how it works.

PS: I read the whole of that sugru's "about us" page a while back - its a good read.

The remote connects over usb to a pc which has steering software from Logitech, you enter your devices and then it controls them. But it also does macro actions. so I create an activity called playstation which turns on the tv, turns the av receiver to the correct channel, the tv to the correct channel and then the volume controls the AV receiver etc.
It allows the different buttons to control the different devices as part of the activity, so when on the "watch UPC" actiivity, the volume is controlled via the av receiver while the channels are controlled via the UPC box.
It's a deadly piece of kit altogether. I was sick of multiple remotes and wanted one that would do it all, this yoke is the mutts nuts. I went from three controllers lying about to just the one. The screen on top is a touch screen so it's also programmed with all the device specific stuff that universal remotes can normally never do.

The new Logitechs are robbery.
I picked up a Harmony 525 @EUR70 on offer from Komplett a few years ago did 10 or more devices.
Brilliant device.
The young fella dropped it, screen cracked.
I bought one on eBay, it arrived with Cracked Screen.
Should have used Sugru!

Ciderhead

Well done!

Well I have the Harmony 900 and it's available now on Amazon for £216 stg at the moment, down from 299, I also have the RF receivers for it, so they cost me another 50 or so.

I was spending a lot on a whole integrated AV system at the time, had the money and it was the best out there. It is the best purchase I've made in the AV realm to be honest, I expect to have it for many more years, although at this rate it's possible Android will replace most of it's functions, but the issue I have with Android so far is that macros don't work right.
