Finally after hours of careful attention to detail im up and running. I measured the threads on both the cylinder and regulator and they match. I got some needle files from work and carefully filed back the first thread past the nick, cleaned it off with WD4O and tried the regulator again.
The first turn felt a bit gratey but the it seemed to turn well. Second turn ok third turn ok.....

Untill.......

She gripped again. The 3rd and 4th thread were black with corrosion so out with the needle file again.

I eventually got there and the regulator is now connected to the cylinder and the keg.
I think I earned this pint.

keep an eye on your gas level, a few squirts of star san or like the tyre guys, fairy liquid also tells me if my gas is leaking

Just to let remind everyone southside AJ edge in bray will refill your tank irrespective of whether its 2 or 5kgs for 10 euro :o
Also brand new valve is 28 euro, so when you ask for Gary and if you quote NHC he will sell you a full 2 or 5kg tank for 40 euro.
He says the tanks are reconditioned but they looked very shiny red to me.
He gets his gas in from a supplier in from the North who also apparently sell to Bulmers?

Good man Cathal, looking sweet!

Well done! This proofs that God exists and wants us to brew..
Bad day brewing is better than good day working.
