Just cut this out today and will test tomorrow. Not the best of cutting but looks like it will seal up.
Anyone else use kegs to ferment in.

For secondary fermentation I sometimes used a keg with the spear removed and an airlock fitted. Works a treat.

After secondary and conditioning is over, pop back the spear, carbonate down the beer out connector (goes down the spear), then fit the regular S-type head, gas in beer out Job done.

Good man. It's generally considered a no-no to send people away from your website. Boards.ie generally don't allow us to do it, for example.

How do you quote other people's work or references material?
Do you mean members posts elsewhere?

No a G keg is a different fitting. The only way I have found after a lot of searching is a destructive method. You depressurize, Hammer a Guerilla bar into the top collar and unscrew it. You then need to force a small screwdriver into the spear to defeat the safety!! It is a bit of a nightmare.

If you google "removing a spear from a G. keg" you will probably find a good video.

If you can get hold a a G keg then why not get hold of a H keg instead??

Here is my guide. I have done it twice, piss easy but yes, it does sort of break it. That's fine for me as I had no use for the spear.

I have seen this done somewhere, the threaded ring that holds in the spear is removed anti clockwise. It has a sloped pattern inside that can only be pushed by a cold chisel and hammer,it will get damaged. After you unscrew the ring the spear has 2 notches that need to be lined up 1 at a time with a slot to allow the spear slip out, like lining up a safe lock.
