Any of you guys use this in your houses? Any recommendations on which product and where I should buy it? Also, any comments on actual performance?

Hi, I use a set of these, D-Link are the brand, to connect a small computer (Mac mini) in the front room to my Internet connection/router which is located in the other side of the house (home office).

The computer in the front room is connected to the TV, and I've a Dropbox setup where Films and  TV episodes are copied to.  Only problem I've ever had is the D-Link units were dropping the connection frequently but at random times. Turned out to be a heating issue.

I had them plugged into an extension cable, and this was I turn stored within the TV cabinet. Once I attached the unit to the wall socket (where there was an air flow) I never had a problem with them.

I have also tested streaming video from one side of the house to the Mac mini (30 meters, walking, unsure of cable leng) using Plex server, no problems whatsoever.

Hope this helps,
Cheers.

Thanks guys. Shane, I tried that but the nob that did my wiring when i was building messed up. I've been using baluns over coax to route Ethernet from my attic to my living room ever since

I used these for a while, I had a kit from Lidl. I used them when wireless was not as mature as it is now. Now I use wireless N for practically everything apart from my PS3 which I plug in directly to the router.

150Mb internet needs a carrier that can keep up :)
