Scorched wort on conical flask

Anyone got any tips for removing scorched wort from a conical flask? I tried boiling a little water in it with some citric acid powder added, but I think I've made it worse, if anything.

Help!

Ta.

Well feck it anyway!! You're telling me the only way I'm going to remove this crud is with drain cleaner?! That was my first (and last!) time to use a conical for it's intended purpose (heating directly on the stove..). My own fault, I stupidly put the DME into cold water thinking a bit of swirling would dissolve it before any scorching could occur.

I might try a little more of that citric acid before going down that route.

If you have an old car battery handy drain the juice out and use it.

Cheers. A thrifty solution, but I don't have a car battery lying around.

Ciderhead, any particular brand of drain cleaner I should look out for? Just one that contains sulphuric acid?

In case anyone else has a problem with scorched wort on erlenmeyer flasks.. On Shanna's advice I used about a tablespoon of Lidl's W5 Oxy Power along with some boiling water. Lifted the scorched wort right off. No fuss.

Delighted to see this response. One thing about posting any thread about doing something or making something is to follow it up with a "this worked or don't do this because it did not work". :)

Glad to hear it worked as I was not sure it would but heh you were no worse off for trying it.
