suggestion for tog demonstration

Hi there

Winter is coming and I want to get my keg setup sorted out.  Would any experienced kegger be willing to do a demonstration and or tutorial session with those of us who want to get kegging. Was thinking we could film it could form the basis of a good article for publishing.

Kegs were a long term investment that up until now I have never got to use because I don't have a 2nd fridge. Well that is changing as of Sunday as I have sourced a spare fridge.

If I can short cut the process of getting everything hooked up and also get some tips that would be great.

Wow just surprised as mine were filled as soon as the car stopped, you can carb in the shed in winter cold sub 8-10 degrees either you don't need a fridge
I know you have gas, have you a reg,beer line and disconnects?

Yes it's a bit of inertia at work here also and a bit of lazyness to be honest. I have a Co2 bottle with regulator and also a nitro bottle with a regulator. I have beer line, gas and liquid posts and even a viper Tower with two taps. I know it's mad but to be honest I was hoping for a bit of help to get it all assembled and up and running. I want to get s guinness tap and then mount it on a fridge.

Not surprised by this. But if my memory serves me correctly you brought me some Duval beer because you said you did not bottle any more as you used kegs. This led me to believe you were already kegging.

At any rate I thought bi would put this suggestion forward as there were loads of others who bought kegs recently and I am pretty sure that others would find this useful. I seem to remember Padraic was in a similar sutuation.

It would be interesting also to be able to talk through with Tube about the technical aspects of kegging with regards to volumes etc.

Yes several times but some aspects still are not clear to me. I thought that having this as a demo would help me out by encouraging me to put all the bits together as well as giving confidence that when I do it its going to increase my chance of working first time.  Don't have the luxury unfortunately of having a lot of free time so it I can get a dig out that I would help enormously Also I thought it would make an interesting demo topic for more than myself.

Just read the wiki on kegging again and I must admit that it has helped to clarify some more stuff from me. When I read it before it was not as clear and it appears that more work has been done on it in the intervening period.

While I have most things clear in my mind I am still a little unclear how to connect the beer line to the beer taps that I have.  I assume that there is a screw John guest fitting that would attach to the screw threads of the back of the tap on one side and a push on the other side to connect the beer line.

Having an opportunity to put this together under somebodies tutelage would be appreciated.

One thing I did find confusing from the wiki was the section on the regulators and manifolds. If somebody had instructions on how to make a manifold that would be really helpful.

If u dont get the privalage of a tog day covering what u want, throw all ur stuff in the boot and come down to kildare we will sort it all out for ya any  evening. If u neeed a bit of extra plumbing im sure theres enough bits in my garage or knocking around my brew drawers.
If fancy dropping down for the fresh hop ( Bernard Shaw) brewday sunday come down early and we will set u up

Shanna as you have mixed gas take your reg



Scew male part into tank





Connect gas line to other side



Then connect gas




line to grey disconnect


Then place in fridge and connect grey disconnect to gas in on Corney. Short pipe on inside of corny

Release a few squirts of co2 to allow atmosphere to flush out and get a protective c02 layer

Leave for 7 to 10 days and serve

Craigtube has a pretty good vid on kegs and co2
