I just picked up 6 beer taps.
None of them are stout.
All have removable nozzles.
Are restrictor discs universal?
Where to get one?

DEMPSEY

Do you know any service people who call to the pubs. Ask in the well if they can help. Worth a try :-\

I was thinking that.
Will these fit any 'nozzled' tap?
What diameter are these?
I have a bunch of older UDS (Universal Dispense Systems) taps with removable nozzle with Metal laminator.

I've been trying to sort out the same thing for some taps I got. Not easy or straightforward (to me at least). I was thinking of just going for one of these as the nozzle seems to be half the cost of it. They're new and at least you can get replacement parts!

John, I have a coors tap and a guinness tap the nozzels are different threads.
I found the discs very difficult to fine, thought they may appear on ebay for a euro or so. Not so... I acquired 2 over the past 6 months via pubs when they were bein serviced by guinness. thats the best approach.
Guinness rep ( if anyone knows one) may be a good person to know re servicing lines and acquiring supplies ( legally of course), with that in mind Im sure those discs are ten a penny!

however if you cant find an original one a simple piece of copper files to the right size with 5 holes punched in it will work perfect. The holes in the guinness one are symmetrically aligned near the circumferance of the small disc.

Hey bren, your link links back to this thread!

I'll try the Copper but keep an ear to the ground for an original.
What size are the holes in the disc?

heres a pic of the guinness frother setup if ye wanna make one from copper or tinfoil.
It still works well without the plastic bit.

A quick way to make one is to get a piece of tinfoil and fold it up a few tomes and shape it out.  Then use a sewing needle to make a set of holes in it. the rubber ring will hold it in place when the nozzel is tightened on the tap

Lad my first stout Tap came today. Hooray and aww in the same breath. The beer line inlet is 3/16 (i have no beer line 3/16 can i use 5/16 for beer line or keep it 3/16)  and the shank is too short to go through the kegerator.

You can
1) get a John guest adapter easily
2)Buy longer shanks or reduce the thickness of the wall of your kegorator
