First time using my autosiphon

Can't believe I never had one of these before. Just used it for first time today. Never knew they transferred much quicker than a standard siphon. I definitely need a bucket clip so I can leave it unattended. How do you guys clean them? I just siphoned hot water through. It doesn't appear to come apart

Pull it all the way out at the top.
A star San solution washed through before you let it drip dry.
I replaced the stiff PVC hose with some of Damos silicon hosing and it's more manageable and flows better still
The black piece at the bottom pulls off and lots hide in there.
Do not soak for any length of time in cleaners, it gets attacked and will crack.

Interesting comment about them cracking. I have been soaking mine in VWP thus far with no problems but maybe I don't have it long enough yet. Savage time saver when transferring beers to Secondary and bottling bucket.

How do you guys clean them?

Just soak for a while, then pumping constantly to clean or sterilize the hose inside . Then rinse the same way

Another thing I noticed with the Auto Syphon is that if you store it assembled the rubber seal on the inner section can take a form that on next use can cause air to be drawn in when pumping. Remove the inner completely for storage to allow the rubber to stay circular

Oh love the autosiphon i have two at home .. a big one for the large brews beer and cider and use the small one for my wines..

When I use the small syphon I also connect a bottle wand to the end of the tube and fill my winebottles with the bottle wand .. Will have to think of a way to also be able to connect my wand to my big syphon so can use the big one for botteling too.. But to be honest i am to lazy to figure it out and botteling bigger batches goes fine with my fermenting bucket with tap.

After using it i usually just transfer some clean water from my sink into my dirty fermenter to get rid of all the old yeast and stuff left in the bucket or bottle..
