i didn't want to scare you off, I'm glad you posted it as I had done over 18 months ago ;)

I see where you guys are coming from but cold pitching isn't 5 degrees below ferment temp surely, its on the low end at 9?.
My warm pitching is 12-14 on a target ferment temp of 10. It just gives it that little shove off.
It would take a monster volume and I would be shitting myself that I had a lag in kickoff and leave myself open to whatever wanted to have a go in there.

Where are you reading the 5 degrees below part. I wrote that I brought my wort to 8 C and pitched then raised the temp to 12 C and held it there. :)

Dr J said he had the potential to cool to 4, but didn't actually say he was going to that temp, where's me glasses :-[
