Hey Andy,

Re: scaling the recipe up, what size boiler do you have?

Barry

My boiler is made from a 33l bucket so i recon it could easily do about 26l.

3 DAYS TO GO!!!

I've made a provisional list of things we'll need. I've also added who's bringing what, but this can change as needed. In fact, it would be good to have a few spares.

Andy, If you think we can do a 26L brew with your boiler then let's do that. I'm fine with us figuring the recipe on the day. I can bring Beersmith on the ould tablet,  or we can just wing it based on a loose design.

Starsan Sol - Barry
Boiler + power (gas or leccy) - Andy
Extension lead - Barry
Thermometer - Barry
Camden tablets - Barry
Mash Tun (+ sparge arm???) - Andy/ Barry
Grains - Geterbrewed (amounts TBD)
HLT - Barry
Hydrometer & trial jar - Barry/Andy/Chris
Hop filter - Andy
Hops - Geterbrewed (amounts and type TBD, but were initially thinking a mixture of Galaxy and Cascade)
Scales - Barry
Paddle - Barry
Protafloc - Barry
Wort cooler - Barry
Hose + connections - Barry
FVs (for kit & AG brews) - Andy/Chris/Iain/Barry
Coopers Kit - Geterbrewed

Finished brew samples Everyone

I might not be there at exactly 12 but should be there very soon after.

Whoever makes down there in first should get the strive water heating up, even if it's just boiling a couple of kettles.

I'm planning on going down on Saturday, really looking forward to it. I'm a complete novice so I'm looking forward to picking up a few tips! I'm happy to help out in anyway I can, for example transporting anything around South Belfast. If you need anything let me know.

See everyone down there!

Great stuff Finnbarr - should be a good day!

Is there anything else we need to ask our hosts before Saturday?

Ah Shane - pity you can't make it! Surely you and Iain are due a politics debate soon!

Is Skinny Matt going?

Really not sure - haven't heard from him in a while.

Bazza

Last I heard he was half man half brewbot. A sort of brewing Borg.

Hey  lads....touch and go if I can make it. The wonders of children. On the premise that I'll be in attendance what if anything can I bring....besides a wealth of inexperience.
Life moves pretty fast.....if you don't stop and look around once in a while....you could miss it.

BrewBilly

Barry, I have seen the list - all go my side just checking plug connections tonight

Nice one Andy. I can throw a few spare leads, etc into the car.

@Rory. I fully appreciate how the Saturday kiddie mayhem is; if you make it you make it. If it turns out you can, maybe bring along a few spares, such as thermometer, hydrometer, paddle; whatever's handy - oh and some samples :)

@Jonathan - So are you okay to bring along a kit + 5-6Kg pale malt, around 500g Crystal and a 100g of Galaxy hops? The rest of us can bring along a few Cascade/Chinook/Citra if we want to mix things up a little.
My brother can still hopefully make it on Saturday with video equipment. I'll confirm with him later. I told him that a few candid shots of the process and a little vox here and there would do the job.

@ Chris - the most important thing we need to know from the folk at the Center is that they've got a decent sized area that can safely accommodate a boiler and hlt going full tilt and (hopefully) throngs of people. Also, somewhere from where we can trail a hose for the cooler would be extremely useful.

Anything else anyone can think of?

We're getting there...

Cheers,

-Barry

Inside is basically an open space with hard flooring - probably a similar size to the top floor of the Hudson. If you think steam will be an issue there is a back door which opens onto stairs down to an outside area.

What sort of hose length do you need? There's a kitchen area and I can bring a tap adapter.

Ah right, sounds fine then. I guess they need to know that the floor will inevitably get wet in places so if that's an issue we'll need mats or something.

Just enough to trail from the kitchen to where the boil is going on. I have a huge reel that splits in the middle to attach the wort cooler. I'll bring that along. It's very long so will suit most situations. *insert smutty joke about one's epic length*

Cheers,
