Came across this visitor in my shed on sunday night as I was bringing in some homebrew.
Have been informed that he is a False Widow . . . . Get outta my beer shed!!!!!!!

I went back out looking for him tonight but Murphys Law I couldnt fing him . . . needless to say I was creeping around the shed like a little girl

Heres the reply i got from spiders.us forum

It's a cobweb spider (family Theridiidae) in the genus Steatoda. Some species are known as "false widows (http://srs.britishspiders.org.uk/portal.php/p/False+Widow+Spiders)," but they are not dangerous to people. (?)

If you use bottle crates, watch for nesting in between them. In the crates themselves, lots of nooks that spiders love.

I'm not saying I like spiders but I've learned to tolerate them. He'll keep your shed free of flies and other creepy feckers for the summer. Just ignore him, he's scared shitless of you. And he's a million times more welcome than the hairy little feckers who'll eat all your malt and piss all over everything

Unless your allergic spider bites are like being stung by a wasp. I was bitten moving corrugated sheeting years ago. Sore and swollen for a few hours. Still not something I'd like to happen again.

My brother was bitten by one last week, he ended up in hospital for 2 days, he was bitten in the crease of his arm at his elbow, lot of blood vessels there, the doctors reckoned that's how the venom got into his blood stream. He had to have his arm drained and was pumped with anti-abiotics. He's ok now but was very sore at the time his wrist swelled up and his arm was covered with blisters.
