Like bird seed + cotton balls + plus garden propagators + temp controllers + sprinklers + harvesting equipment + cheap house rental + above little bags + rizzla papers for, erm, tea.

You should be dosing between 30 and 50mg per liter.  5 liters times 30mg is 0.15g, and if you round that up to 0.2 you are between the two values.

That's good info thanks. I'm not sure I agree that creating lots of cold break is necessarily a bad thing. It's only bad if you don't have the means or patience to separate it off.

I lost almost ten liters to break material once.... 55l brew length never again. There is no excuse for not measuring the stuff correctly. Read all the material I've referenced when you have time it explains things better than my few lines above, especially the stuff by Wheeler.

How much yeast do I add in.  The brewmate program does not seem to list that. 

I have two  11.5g packs of Safale s-04

4 euros is not enough to pay for a precision scales, buy cheap, buy often......Don't get one under about 50 euros and also get one with a grippy surface as they break quite easily and slip out of the hands very easily.

One package should be enough for 5 gallons at standard gravity.

So  it would be fair to assume that 3 grams would be good for 1 gallon? 

Do you know how long it can last out of its packet?

leave the leftovers in the packet, push out as much air as possible, fold it over and seal it up with tape and put it in a little ziplock bag.
keep it in the fridge and it'll be fine.

Otherwise, you could make the whole lot into a a starter, then separate it out into piss test tubes and store them in the fridge.

I know this is an old thread but no point starting a new one. I got this last Christmas and only opened it up the other day and can't believe I waited so long it's perfect for a beginner and it's packed with loads of recipes. Has anyone tried any of the recipes I'm thinking of doing the 60 shilling but I'd love to hear anyone else's experiences
