Evenin' all.

I'm off on a stag do to the dog races tomorrow, and I know literally eff all about gambling or dogs. Or Lifford.

My non-brewing questions:
1- Any advice on picking winners?
2- What's the best non-craft beer to drink? (lets face it, Lifford Dogtrack isn't going to stock Galway Bay or owt.

Cheers,
Tom

6 dogs per race so pick a number and bet on each time, then if you lose double bet on same number and each time it loses double the bet on the same number. Law of average will come your way eventually however you might run out of money before then so don't listen to me. ::)

Go trackside and watch the odds on the chalk boards drop at the last minute, the owners etc are putting money there, hence the drops, the money is where the winners are.

I like the idea, it has a lot of merit. I might do that but add on the original bet, rather than double the preceding bet. That way I won't have lost the Tequilla budget by race 3.

Cheers Eoin, I'll keep an eye on that.

Also, having watched a big or continuous drop, get the bookie who's slowest to change his board to get highest odds on favourites

We went to the brandywell at least once a month to start our night when we were younger. My personal betting selection was on dog colour, I.e 5 normal coloured dags and one with spOts, bet on the spots, or 5 dogs with normal temperment and one mad hour bouncing about, bet on the physco-flawless :)

if you notice your mates are always losing ask them what they are going for and pick a different one  :P

Inside lane or outside lane always seems to win, last time I was at a stag in Galway I used that method along with a fiver bet per race and I cleaned up!!!

Ok I'll throw my two penny worth in........ ;)

My system is to bet on the best name in the race!! Something that means something to me or makes me laugh  :)

And before you all say it.........i do usually get winners! I got 3rd in the  grand natonal by just picking the name! Have fun really, oh and by the way i'm not talking big money on bets either, i would rather spend my money on beer  ;)

Enjoy  :)

instead of you and your mates betting with the bookie where you might all loose you could get 6 of you to pick a number each and winner takes all.

last time i went we put either a fiver or tenner each in a glass and winner got 30 or 60.

If you are really connected you can find out which dog didn't get the half sleeping tablet.... That one will win.

Well, I tried most of the systems mentioned. Picking by name, sticking with a number, picking the one that 'had that look in it's eyes', picking by odds, form, tips and copying the busdriver who cleaned up.

I won nothing! I won the very last table pool, which covered my drinks! Sigh. Cracking night though.

Thanks for the tips, people. Brewing and gambling. Love it.
