Its not quite available yet - but looks handy for those short on space.

Would be perfect if it was also able to control a heat belt as well. Looks like the guts of €250 though.

Interesting bit of kit - personally Lagers are always a pain for me because they hog my kegerator.

Was looking into these but they are some price. Bit of research and it looks like people have made their own based on the peltier cooling.
These iceprobe device is what most people use.

Instillation for one without PSU.

For me to lager I have to empty my keggerator which is not really an option so this might be a simple way to lager in within the same  footprint as normal and keep the beers flowing.
Hooked up to a temp controller this could be lagering made easy.

Wife is watching the brits and I got bored and ordered one of the iceprobe chillers on Amazon.
Some with a power suply but it's a step down from wussy US power so plan on using a power supply I have already.
The more I think about it these could be great for not just lagers but brewing during the summer months, cold crashing and just all round better control of a brew.
Now need to source some nice stainless thermowells for temp controller and jobs sorted.
Will document and report back when arives.

Keep us posted Nigel. It looks interesting

What sort of fermenter you using?

nigel_c

Just a normal 30L plastic fermenter. It should well handle the sized brews I do.

Arrived yesterday. Just need to get a new power supply to replace this one and I'll be good to go.

Anyone know off hand where to source one?

Power supplies for security cameras would suit, they usually come in a 1amp or 5amp output and cost around €16 + vat (from memory). You'd need to go to a wholesaler for that price rather than Maplin
I've bought some electrical gear from the states lately and although the power supplies were rated for 110v they still gave 12v out at 220v. Try the power supply with a travel adaptor before replacing it?
PS most of these power supplies work off a Zener diode circuit which sets the output voltage regardless of input voltage
There's no such thing as bad beer - some just taste better than others

nigel_c

Was thinking that but I'd be a bit reluctant to plug it in in case it fries the chip.
I've sourced a power supply for about 20 yoyos.
