LordEoin

I don't think you'll have any problems at 10% :)

irish_goat

I normally use about 10% for the same reasons. Recipe sounds lovely.

Tom

Are you sure you have enough hops?! ;)

Looking good. I might give your grain bill a go myself, if you don't mind. Is the 20g Carafa just for colour?

baphomite51

the more the better my friend  ;D

but ye the carafa is just for a bit of colour, added with the munich im hoping for a slight orange tinge to it should look delicious  :P

ill keep you posted

Will_D

You will loose a hugh amount of liquid to all thos hops!

LordEoin

I usually squeeze the hop bags and get most of it back

baphomite51

ye i was gonna say i plan to give em a bit of a squeeze as i will be using muslin bags, is there any danger of getting off flavours from this like tannins from squeezing a grain bag??

baphomite51

had an interesting day today. so i planned to do a BIAB partial mash. so first cock up was my mash volume calculation, when i was adding the grain i ran out of space so had to hold back 450g of grain due to not enough room in my kettle feckin beer smith  :P. then when i finished my mash i read the hydrometer wrong (bit rusty tis been a while) for my pre-boil gravity and added in too much water thinkin i was diluting the wort so then becuase i added too much water i had to boil it off for like an hour and a half. in the end i figured it all out and iv got 21 litres sitting in the fermentor at the correct gravity  ;D. despite all the miss haps it was an enjoyable day i took it very easy not rushing around the place like i usually do saying that it took me about 7 hours start to finish  :P. looking forward to trying this one ill keep ya's posted.

Relax, This sounds like a recipe for a GREAT beer!

the smell coming from this is amazing its like a punch of sweet tropical fruits wen i open the fermentor  ;D. OG came out at 1.059 and i checked it on friday night and it was at 1.024-22 seems a little slow to me wat ya think? im using US-05 at around 16-20 degrees C, am i being impatient?

DEMPSEY

As long as it is still bubbling away leave it be. 16C ferment will keep it slow moving but that's OK too :).

Thats a lot of hops. Your house must smell like a sweet shop!

I regularly use a lot of wheat, and Munich in my beers. You will have no issue with them, but the wheatiness can come through in the flavour and mouth feel (thats a good thing), and that amount of Munich will defo come through, it should balance out your base malt, which i think has a very neutral flavour.

So had a check and a taste today it's good and bad news! Sadly it seems to be stuck for some odd reason it won't go below 1.022 my mash temps were fine as far as I know, hope my thermometer isn't off :/. However I had a taste and WOW! Iv heard of people referring to grapefruit wen tasting beers and I never got it but this is just like a grapefruit to the face, it seems well balanced not overly sweet or thick in the mouth with a nice breadyness to it on the finish if it stays like this I'll be happy. Still need to dry hop too. Think I'll check my thermometer
