Does anyone coming tomorrow have a sachet of Ale yeast, preferably US05 that they could bring along for me please?

I'll buy it off you!! needed for my next brew, an American Pale Ale, and I don't want to pay delivery cost from homebrew company for such a small item.

I'm bringing along some not so summery but rather delicious Porter, not so summery because it's about 5.6%  :)

I put in an order yesterday  and it's en route today, only I won't be home til after tonight. Are you based in town at all (working or living)? I work on hatch street, I can bring a satchet of US05 with me on Friday & meet ya somewhere if your stuck? (Off tomorrow)
Other wise unless you can harvest someone's yeast from a bottle later, or buy a bottle of Foam & Fury, I think they used American ale yeast.

Hi Hingo
Thanks either one of the options sound good, but probably would prefer a sachet...I am based in town so could definitely meet you somewhere on Fri
Sure talk to you tonight at Kavanagh's... I'll hopefully be wearing a pink Capital T shirt!
The foam and fury idea is a really interesting one....

The homebrew shops will normally post it for you if it's just a sachet of yeast.

markc

I'll bring a sachet in for you, I've a few at home, I'll look out for a pink Capital tshirt so...

Or get it from a bottle of Sierra Nevada which is where US-05 originated.
Oh right.  I didn't think that was bottle conditioned, I only said OFAF as I got a couple of bottles yesterday and the bloke who served me put one of the bottles in upside down in a box with other bottles. got home to see yeast sediment at the bottom of one bottle and a cloudy other bottle.

Brew_Diva

Thanks Thomas...will look into that aswell...
Re using a bottle of Ale,  do you just chuck it in at the last instead of your powdered yeast...? Intriguing....

Dr Jacoby

Great night last night. And well done to Ronan for coming out on top. I absolutely loved Markc's Session IPA. Wonderful tropical aroma, every bit as pungent as a fresh bottle of Dead Pony Club.

Kavanagh's is still a great venue even if they didn't lay on the traditional free portion of chips  ;)
Every little helps

markc

Had a great time, nice you meet you guys and gals I hadn't met before.

Cheers Dr.J, yours was well deserved there in the top 3 though and i really enjoyed Ronans. It's a hard one to nail though isn't it? My favourite beer of the night was Michelles rather pleasant porter, lovely stuff. It certainly wasn't that pint of Thornbridge Puja Jasmine IPA, can can still taste it this morning! Should have stuck with a glass Rossa!

Mark

beerfly

just in the door and looking for free chips ::)

it was a great night and it went pretty smoothly, i'll have the official results in a day or 2.
surprised the dark beers came out on top

Brew_Diva

This might also come in handy for you too if ya fancy using harvesting the US05 when you finish your APA : http://www.nationalhomebrewclub.com/washing-yeast/
