I think I used 10metres of 10mm

baphomite51

cheers, any rough idea how fast it cools wort to pitching temp?

RichC

About 25 minutes and its in the teens

Tom

Keep stirring/circulating the wort to maximise contact with the chiller, and you can use the hot water for cleaning.

Someone with more of a science background will correct me or back me up, but I try not to splash until the wort is below mash temperatures, as I think aeration here still counts as hotside aeration. Would love to know conclusively myself; I've just been cautious up until now.

Hot side aeration has been debunked in a homebrew setting.

so got around to making my chiller shes not pretty but im sure it'll do the job i tried making an interwoven style chiller which seem to be highly recommended so ill give it a try next week

It ain't pretty but sure you're not drinking the chiller.

Got to make mine this week.

baphomite51

I think that'll be dropped into a bucket of iced water.

baphomite51

correct Eoin, its handy in the summer months when the water temp coming out of the tap is a bit higher

Motorbikeman

My wort chiller uses about 1.5 meters of pipe.  Hardly any compared to some others here.

Cools 20L in around 35mins to pitching temp.
