I bought an 8x8 superior shed on Adverts.ie, from www.gardenshedsforsale.ie they had a special offer on with a metal roof. In hind sight I should have requested it to be fully lined with breathable membrane. I decided to insulate the shed and line it with a washable surface for hygiene. Having researched a little I discovered that I needed to install a breathable membrane under the insulation. The roof already had this membrane, I could only source it in 300 ft rolls, so I used the black weed control sheet which you can buy in garden centres. As luck would have it Lidl had a staple gun in the centre isle that week. I tacked on the membrane and bought 25mm Quinntherm insulation sheets a similar product to Kingspan, I think it cost around €11 per 8x4 sheet in U Value in Ballycoolin. I then cut and applied a layer of hardboard on top of the insulation. I went for the white finish which cost €10 per 8x4 sheet in Goodwins builders providers. My wife and kids bought me the sign in GlennTrout signs for fathers day along with a mash paddle. They named my 'brewery' after my brewing assistants, my two Irish Glen of Imaal Terriers :-)

Nice job. I'm getting a shed soon but theres no way I'd have the patience to line it so nicely.

Next step is to wire and plumb it, I have some 10 sq twin and Earth cable lying around so I'll run this in conduit to a sub board in the shed and put up some plastic trunking with sockets installed in it. Then I have to build a frame to hold my keggles. I was planning on using galvanised uni strut, but I'll need to check prices first.

A man needs a shed!! Forgot to add that the original shed floor was a bit bouncy so I put down 2 sheets of 1/2" waterproof ply to stiffen it up to carry the weight of the equipment, liquor and me while brewing.
The shed came with 2 clear windows on the side wall, I bought 2 pieces of frosted glass and siliconed them into place to give me double glazing and prevent prying eyes, I need to hook it up to the house alarm also.

That's a factory not a shed!! At least you wont have to line it with all the Lambic brews you brew  ;D

After hogging the kitchen all day yesterday with a 3 step mash, SWMBO said something along the lines of "Maybe you should build that brewshed", so it looks like I have a greenlight too! :D
I'll learn from your mistakes if I ever get to it

Have you given any thought to ventilation like an extractor fan. I brew in my shed and condensation is a big problem. I am eventually going to invest in an extractor fan.

There's a vent on each gable but I will be installing a fan when I get the electrics in, so my neighbours can enjoy the aromas also.

My shed/brewery was supposed to be a two car garage, but it's never had a car inside it! I've actually just finished painting the whole outside of the house, which means I can now probably paint the inside of the brewhouse and make it a bit more confortable, as if I painted the inside of the garage first before the outside of the house there would have been serious tutting!

Need to have another clearout though, as just have too much stuff gathering dust and making it cluttered.

LordEoin

dont worry, I'll help by taking all of your stuff

Would a bog standard electric fan similar to what installed in a bathroom do it. I am thinking about putting in a kitchen style hood to capture the steam.

Mines an Ex Cowshed!! Mass Concrete walls. Sloping floors and even got some Lambic Evening air vents high on the walls!!! ^-^ 8)

You need a minimum of a 6" fan and the ducting. I have a 4" shower type over my kettle and it isn't up to it.

8" would be even better.
