I put a 4" bathroom fan in my shed too. It's shite. My glasses still fog up. I'd love to put a velux window in the roof  :D

Nice work SA. Is the big stainless enclosure (next to the step ladder) part of your electric brewery plans??

You need a minimum of a 6" fan and the ducting. I have a 4" shower type over my kettle and it isn't up to it.

8" would be even better.

Might be time to pay a visit to the recyling centre to see what is available. Real challenge will be fitting the hood to the wall of the shed as its brittle out. Thanks for the tip about the fan size.

Looks pretty nice! I've just bought a large shed myself, the main goal is to store the motorbike in there, but there would be some spare space to put some brewing stuff in there too... maybe...

Now that I'm honing my carpentry skills I was thinking of making a canopy to cover the 3 vessels with a duct fan on top. For stouts and darker ales you should be looking at a 10% boil off in the kettle with a 40 litre brew that means 4 litres of water is boiled off! That's a substantial volume of water to remove as condensation, so I'll be planning on a large flowrate fan, I also bought wheels in Lidl lately for the bottom of the rig, in the event that it's still too steamy , I can drag it outside..
Well spied on the control panel!!
No more lost time accidents BB, thank God, while I was unloading the hardboard sheets from the roof rack, a sudden gust of wind whipped a sheet off the top of my car. It flew through the air Damien Omen 3 esque and sliced through my forehead. A quick visit to the swiftcare clinic in Swords, €150 and 11 switches later everything was fine.
So be safe out there !!

I tride a normal 4 inch bathroom fan.......useless....a 6 inch bathroom fan....useless....settles for a 12 inch restaurant fan (xpelair) which is quiet, powerful and does a great hob. So think carefully.

I'm aware a good twin fan household cooker hood is quite adeqyuate as well...Its all about the litres per minute flow rate

I have cooker fan but it needs to be at an angle to let condensation trickle down and not drip back into fermenter.
