I just bought a bottle of beer that is lagered on caskets that where used to age beerenburg for 15 years.. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beerenburg)..

Its one bottle from the first batch of this beer of 700 bottles.. Its a special beer brewed for a 150 year anniversary of weduwe joustra (widow joustra). Most of the these bottles where sold in only 2 days and i found it at a local store that still had two bottles (not anymore :P )

Oh and when i say expensive the bottle was 10 euro for 0.5l

Went to the beer fest at Deveneys of Dundrum, had a few samples and finished up by having a Brewdog Abstrakt 13. http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/brewdog-abstrakt-ab13/210535/

Thought it was the nicest beer I'd ever tried, had so much going on in it. Popped into the off license after to pick up some beers for the way home and saw a bottle of this. Think it was €14 for a 350ml bottle (and that included 10% discount!). Probably wouldn't have splashed out so much on it if I'd been on the lemonades that night.  :P

Still haven't opened it yet, been aging in the brother's cellar too so I can't crack it open on a whim. Might leave it til this Christmas.

Paid $30 for 750 ml of Cascade Vlad the Imp Aler - and this was at the brewery, so it ain't getting any cheaper.

some cheap beer there lads - i was in the bar owned by o haras brewery of carlow - its in kilkenny - specializes in asst craft beers - had a look at the menu and the dearest beer there is a 375ml scottish beer called Tactical nuclear penguin ( Brewdog ) - 32% proof and 90EURO A BOTTLE

Nuclear Penguin is more like a port or liqueur...not a fan. But its baby brother, the 20% Tokyo Stout is fantastic.

My favorite treat is the Thornton's Sour Ale. I grab on in McHughs in Kilbarrack the odd time, when I know I'll only have one of an evening...

Is that brewery corner by any chance? Heading to Kilkenny tomorrow night. Sky and the ground in Wexford do the nuclear penguin and sink the Bismarck by the glass.  (Used to anyway).

I spent 17 euros on a bottle of this at the brewery

It was very nice.

Given that the regular Oude Geueze cost 4 euro at source and maybe 13 euro in Ireland when available I can't even imagine what this would cost here.

From where and how much?

lampie

Bought them on marktplaats.nl that's a sort of craigslist for 35 Euro for the 6 bottles. Saw some ads for 130 for a crate of number 12 but that was a bit to much for me

I got the pack of 6 Westy 12s when they came out, was only €50. Drank the last one a couple of weeks ago. Still prefer Rochefort 10.

Anyway most expensive was probably around €20 for a magnum of Chouffe.

Postage was an other 6 euro, but I
Live on Holland so postage was not that high.

There is quite a lot on the site and checked shipping and to the UK its 13 euro up to two kilo. So that is quite a lot of bottles. The site is all in Dutch so probably need Google translate to get trough the site. http://www.marktplaats.nl/z.html?query=westvleteren&categoryId=0&postcode=&distance=0

My wife bought me a 30 year old Westmalle Tripel for my 30th birthday from the Cracked Kettle in Amsterdam; I think it was in the 20-30 euro range; so a steal, IMO.

I visited a beer bar in Gotheburg, Sweden in 2011 and asked whether they had Närke's Kaggen! Stormaktsporter (I'd heard, Sweden's best beer ever; aged in 5 gallon whiskey barrels form Sweden's only Whiskey distillery at the time); it was brewed in 2006.  The bar man brought the bottle out (I had hoped to see it and read it and give it back to him) and opened it immediately without asking whether I actually wanted it or not.  It was 750 Swedish Kroner; about 50 Euros at the time; now 81.63 Euros...

My most expensive beer ever and to me only worth maybe 20 Euros.  The 30 year old Westmalle Tripel was worth every penny, though.
