Donnchadh started the discussion at last nights meet about brew days...
Brewdays can be private or public.
If private, some people may have limited space and shelter limited power etc. for a gaggle of brewers.
Billy volunteered his place for one.
I'm up for one to, I just need to do some housekeeping first.
Anyone else willing just say so.
Please state limiting factors such as 1xgas rig, 1x electric, 10x bodies, start/finish at a time, etc. If these apply.

Yeah, I was trying to start a discussion on what would ideally be the prefect place to have brewdays, how people would like to proceed with brewdays etc. Should we have one brew going on or try and get a set number? I was thinking if you teamed guys up on brewdays you'd have more guys brewing and less kits to deal with. Say like four teams of two brewing 46 odd litres (two 23 litre buckets). Say like two on electric, two on gas.

Really I was asking if we should try and get more communal brewing going, cross fertilization of ideas etc., it'd be a bit of craic.

Garry

Myself and LordEoin managed to knock out 3 brews the day we emptied the barrel. A few lads popped in during the day and it was good craic alright. I'd say it was a bit of a pain for Eoin, his car was loaded to the bollocks, but fair play.

So now I know that my place can support 2 electric brews. I don't have gas, but bring your own. I think 4 brews would be max from a chilling point of view for one house-hold.

If someone is brewing on a weekend, they could just announce it here and peeps could pop in during the day? It doesn't have to be a brenmurph affair  :P

I'm not sure where we'd get a public space for a brew? But I'd be up for another brew at my place.

I was using gas Garry.

You boiled with gas. Your sparge and strike water were electric. I did 2 brews on electric. Where there's a will......  :P

Could do one centralised HLT on leccy and everyone boils on gas? People request a strike temp and a schedule is put together to suit. Then everyone batch sparges at 78?

I was thinking would it be possible to combine the brewday into making up rebel brewers kits as the homebrewwest have kindly offered, they're looking to make an extract and all grain per club. More details here http://www.nationalhomebrewclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,8067.0.html

We could we use 2 coils - transfer heat from End of Boil to HLT.
I know the temps will equalise.
Maybe Dr. H has a handle on 'amplifying' heat.
I with Geothermal this is possible, but you may need a heat pump of sorts.

Yep, no reason why not.
IMO, the best approach to this is for everyone to nominate either a style (and build a recipe) or just a recipe.

Good idea. Start a new topic and we'll see where it goes.
