Just in my local Aldi and they have rightly extended their craft beer range. Now includes The Bru and kenmare range. Belfast  lager, their own Osheas brand which now includes a golden ale. Also a large selection of English craft beers and two seasonals Rosey Nosey and Bah Humbug. And there is a special on La Goudal Abbey Beer 75cl €2.99.
Have to say I'm very impressed.
Primary: Back to Black Again (Michael Jackson stout)
Secondary:
Conditioning:  Breac Donn Imperial Amber Ale
Drinking: Cascade Reaction Amber Ale, Fear Gorm Irish stout, lonesome pilgrim pale ale
Planned: imperial stout, finlandia kit hack

LordEoin

i'm not to keep on the kenmare beers.
like some other beers they seem to be all marketing on the bottle, without much to talk about within the bottle.

have to agree that Kenmare is quite poor but I was just happy to see the selection.

Chris

O'Sheas is brewed by Carlow brewing company, same crowd that do O'Haras beers. That Goudal is utter crap IMHO,a diabetics nightmare,i could drink no more than about 200ml out of the bottle before dumping it.

Wondering where the "large selection  of english craft beers" was as i must have missed it and i would like to try some,as far  as i could see the other day the only English beers in Aldi were hobgoblin and old speckled hen and i have had those, but they have had them all year. ;D

Oh Crap

I've had both Rosey nosey and bah humbug, in my opinion they are just red beer, no seasonal character at all (just the label), a watery red at that...... I kinda expected that from the rosey nosey but I expected more from wycwood's bah humbug...utterly disappointing
Beer
1 is good, 2 is better, 3 is enough & 4 isn't half enough

LordEoin

Apart from the lack of taste, what annoyed my about the kenmare marketing was that you'd think it's from kenmare.
but then the small print says something about brewed in little island,
and then if you look more you see that it's contracted out to someone else again, probably Carlow brewing company :D
Could be dutch gold in the bottle and nobody'd be any the wiser.

I was aware that Osheas was brewed by OHaras but it was my first time seeing the golden ale. That I can remember there was hobgoblin, fullers, specked hen, lancer and bombadier.

Just the Speckled Hen and Hobgoblin in my local Aldu with the last few weeks,no Lanccer or Fullers,Bombadier. The O'Sheas are not bad,the golden ale is quite nice, the stout bland for a stout, the red ale watery and lacking in flavour, have the pale in the fridge to try yet.The Goudale is terrible except for the bottle.

I have the rosey nosey and bah humbug in the fridge for review, the Bru line of beers i have tried all  the ones from Aldi and they are awful waste of money even at that price, a pure marketing ploy to fool consumers, the kenmare beers are just as bad and also a poor attempt at a craft brew.

Hobgoblin and Old Speckled Hen are the best by far from the Aldi beer aisle. ;D

Kenmare is contract brewed by Bru.
C&R drinks (in Little Island, Cork) own this brand as well as Little Island Cider.

Picked up the Little Island Cider last weekend to sample. Not to my taste at all...although the mate I was with quite liked it, so it's obviously a personal palate thing.

The 'special buy' beers are €2.49 in aldi and the Henneys cider is €2.99.  I actually liked the Kenmare stout stout myself, much prefer the other 'O'Sheas' to the rest of the range.

I agree with LordEoin on the Kenmare branding, somewhat misleading and I didn't couldn't find any mention of it being brewed 'under license etc' on it.
