DIY Brew Belt Query

Just wondering if there are any thoughts on making this into a brew belt.

I came across it on aliexpress and it seems to look the same way a brew belt works.  The cable is meant to defrost and melt ice with the heat from the wires.  I know that you'd need the correct cable, connections, socket and fuses to set it up, which shouldn't cost an awful lot.  I'm just wondering if anybody would be tempted to try this as it would be fairly cheap for a couple of brew belts

by the time you've added a thermostat, plug, wire, fuse, etc  you're probably not far off the price of a brewbelt

I was thinking it might be a bit of hassle but its €8 for 5 meters of it and it says that there is some form of protection of overheating:
The self-regulating design of Raychem heating cables eliminates worry about overheating or burnouts from overlapping. The conductive polymer core automatically adjusts heat output at each point along the pipe, with no need for thermostats

I would be using it with an stc anyway if i was to make a couple.  I was just wondering if it was doable considering i wouldn't be electrical minded regarding the wattage and the safety aspect of having those type of wires plugged in

The photo looks like a heat belt cable but it's deceptive. It's only 8mm wide, that's half the size of a heat belt. Look at the photo of the heat cable wrapped around the white cable.

Anyway, it should work. If you've got all the other bits and bobs in stock it might be worth a gamble to you.

A heat belt is worth the money if you ask me.

Heat Wrap. I got this and it's working nicely. Heats a much greater surface area than a belt. I have it hooked up to an STC1000 so it's only on for a couple of minutes a day.

I have one heat belt and i was thinking of diying to make the costs cheaper.  If it doesn't work, i'm sure i'll find a use for the cable.  Heated clothesline anybody  ;)

I thought of this previously but nowhere in ireland sells the tape (that i know of).  I was thinking of something like a brew belt as its a bit safer and i was thinking that it would be cheap also
