Looking at getting a stock pot i can convert to electric for biab so where is the best place to get one ? Thinking 35-40 litres would suit my needs. The big AG gear has been put away but i would like a handy one vessel setup to keep my hand in. ;D

Not willing to pay Nisbetts exhorbitant prices, also the Buffalo are great but that switch can be finiky so i figured a plain old stock pot and i would stick in two elements myself. ;D

Might be too big/expensive.

Not too big tbh but way too expensive for what it is so they are out, while the 50l would not be too big my plan is to do this biab in my kitchen under the extractor hood so 35-40l would probably work better, the plan is to try boiling it etc on my hob and then if that does not work come up with another plan. ;D

I have the buffalo myself, and 40l is the minimum Biab I would consider, as it lets me do 20 L batches of even high gravity mashes, like 1.070 porters.

The problem with the buffalo is the cut outs, which have gotten more pronounced for me over time. You get wort burning onto the floor of the unit above the element. Can be more pronounced with different grists.

I have plans to upgrade to a pot and element  job later in the year.

One option I would love to have is a heat stick jobby. There is a really interesting product in the us called a hot rod. I would recommend that people's king kettles check it out

Remember that you need clearing space above the pot to lift the bag.
