Guys I did look at the Nisbetts temp probes before I pulled the trigger on a Thermopen, but for the extra €30 I was getting more accuracy and a quicker reading, I'm sure they are fine, but they are not the same. I think the Hygiplas like the thermopen also comes with a calibration cert?

Lifted straight off vendors websites

Hygiplas Easytemp Folding Thermometer
Accuracy: ±1°C
Temperature Range -50 degrees Celsius. to 300 degrees Celsius.
Resolution 0.1 degrees centigrade.
Response Time 15 seconds (approx).

Thermapen®
range  -49.9 to 299.9°C
resolution 0.1 °C or 1°C - user selectable
accuracy ±0.4°C (-49.9 to 199.9 °C)
Response Time 3 seconds

I don't work for or get any commission from Thermopen ;)

Looks like a rebranded version of the one I bought. Best thing I bought in recent memory!

I'll just leave this here  :)
Pulled the trigger on one of these from Amazon after reading the link. Hopefully it will be accurate.

I bought on of the E20 IR Thermometers in Aldi.
Accuracy is +/1 1.5C or something.
Hmmm...

@Will or Pheel.

That sealers looks good. I need one and am just ready to buy it.

But can it vacuum seal other (non-brand) bags or rolls? I see that it seems to employ to own-brand bags are channelled or something. Does it make and difference what bags are used in your experience?

Thanks!

You have to use bags designed to be vac sealed. They have channels in the inside surface that alow the air to be removed.

They will seal ordinary bags but will not pull a good vacuum.

You can buy vac bags from others sources online, maybe cheaper, maybe not!

Right. I meant to specify that I was talking about vacuum sealer bags. I have loads of the rolls left over from the crappy lidl sealer. They're designed to work with that one, so they are vacuum sealer bags. I don't see any channelling on them; should it be visible or otherwise detectable?

Anyway, I guess you've answered my main question. If I get this sealer I won't be stuck with just one brand of possibly price vac seal bags. Cool, thanks for the tip.

I can never get it out of the washing machine once I put it in.

I was passing through Aldi in Santry today and they had a few of these extendable sink strainers, I have one which I use to strain my Biab, it takes the  wet grain from my 5kg grain bill no problem
