Hoping to call to Ikea soon so was having a look at their website and saw these new jars, http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/catalog/products/90315048/. They look perfect for storing yeast, and a euro cheaper than those Kilner ones in homestore and more/woodies.

pob

What about their own (even cheaper) 0.5l Kilner version for €1 http://m.ikea.com/ie/en/catalog/products/art/70213545/
I've one of these & should be fine for yeast.

The bigger sizes are only €2.25, €3.00, €3.75 for 1L, 1.8L & 2L.

I had one of those, if fact I bought four of the kilner ones when they were on sale at one stage, but when I  put yeast in one after a brew, mould grew on the rubber seal(after sterilizing). my thinking is that the lip of the jar is covered completely with the crew on lids and would hopefully prevent that in the future.

A few things coming up this week, a vacuum sealer for 30 in Lidl on Thursday, http://www.lidl.ie/en/Offers.htm?action=showDetail&id=29364 and also an infrared thermometer for 20 in aldi, also on Thursday, https://www.aldi.ie/en/specialbuys/thur-3-sept/products-detail-page/ps/p/infrared-thermometer/

Leann ull

The infrared thermometer yep, the vac sealer was reviewed by others before and it was not great.

Shanna

400watt submersible garden pump to use in a water butt to pump water into an immersion chiller. http://www.lidl.ie/en/Offers.htm?action=showDetail&id=29292

I have one & it works great as it will comfortably pump water over 25 meters this includes two copper immersion chillers.

Do not get the Lidl vac sealer. It doesn't work. A few of us got them a few years back when they went if first and nobody had any success with them.
