Hi All,

The White labs left the states late Monday night and were tucked snuggly away in our fridge today by lunch time. All yeasts are now on the site including any special requests:

Hi,

We have been asked for our views on a potential new product by one of our suppliers. We dont have one to try. There is currently a video of one online here:

Cool Brewing bag: fermentation cooler

Control your fermentation process:

Use frozen 2L bottles.

2x bottles lowers the temp. 10 degrees.

1x bottle lowers 5 degrees below ambient.

Depending on amount of bottles this is efficient up to a 30 degree drop.

Switch out frozen bottles every 24 hours

Contain any blowouts

100% waterproof and insulated

Easy to clean.

Compacts for easy storage in small places.

Would appreciate people feedback/thoughts/ opinions good or bad. We will look for samples for people to try.

Thanks,

Shane

Is there a hole in them so you can get in a temp probe / brew belt? Looks like nice clean insulation if you can get a bit on temp control on them

Hey Shane,

I currently own two of these bags, I got them from a supplier in Norway. My house is particularly warm and keeping temperatures down is a nightmare, once fermentation got started the brew could be up at 27c and we all know what that means.

I don't have the room for a fridge so I did some research and found the cool brewing bag. User reviews were really impressive, the only problem was the price of shipping from the US was colossal. Thanks to the really nice guy in CB he pointed me in the direction of a HBS in Norway and I purchased two.

The quality of the bag is impressive, if I had to say it had any let downs it would be the zips, I'd like them a little more robust, other than that it's perfect. I can easily fit my fermenter and a demijohn for blow off in there with plenty of room to spare.

there's two zips which can meet in the middle, I've been able to feed my STC temp probe in there and close the zips around it, so getting a brew belt in is no problem.

Cleaning it is quite easy as the bag can turn inside out and a rub with a damp cloth does the trick. It is water tight, my first run I just lobbed the frozen water bottles in and the leaked inside the bag, but everything was contained. I now just put the water bottles in a little bowl to save on drying the inside later.

The best thing is it easily folds up and fits under the spare bed, or in the press.

I thought changing bottles would be a really ball ache, but you get in to a routine and it really is every 24 hours, unlike swamp coolers. Initially there is some learning to get the desired temp, I now use a combination of 1L and 500ml bottles and know exactly how many to put in to get my temp.

I would love to see you stock the cool brewing bag because I'm sure I'll need another one :), and it's great for those who want to control temps but don't have the option/space for a fridge.

If anyone has questions please feel free to ask!

Here it is in action , this was my christmas ale, 4 days in to fermentation...lost 2L to blow off (demijohn), but the bag stayed clean :)

I would be all over one of those! Would love to try a lager in it!

Hmm a few sitting on a shelf in the shed and wrap or band heaters might be interesting to try out.

Good review! Thanks for that.
Wouldn't mind one or two of those.
