Hello Shane. We use hobbyweld from kws in Portlaoise. They have a food grade co2. There is a gas bottle rental charge on the first cylinder. Then just a refill charge each time you need a new one. They keep a decent stock. Or at least they have now since we started using them a few years ago.

How much are they for a refill? If I have an AJ tank, would they refill that?

DarraghKS

They only refill their own tanks. For a 9 litre gas tank they charge approx €50. Can't remember what the rental charger is but it's more than a hundred euros I know that much.

iedepot do something similar, they also stock mixed gas: https://www.iedepot.ie/beer-and-food-gases

I haven't been in contact with these guys, but they might be a source: http://thebarcompany.ie/product-category/draught-beer-equipment/regulators-gas/
...used to be NewBier

I got a tank off that crowd in Galway  http://thebarcompany.ie/product-category/draught-beer-equipment/regulators-gas/
80 euro deposit and 50 for the fill. Not sure why their site says its only 60 euro. Apparently they have mixed gas as well.

I use Larry Browne fire safety in Wexford.

Does he only do his own tanks? How much for a fill?

rukkus

I got a tank with removed dip tube from him and when I need a refill he just drops me in another and takes away my empty, if he has a connector for your tank I don't think it'll be an issue. If you'd like his details just drop me a PM :)

Please be careful not all co2 is food grade, I have smelled a tank that AJ had in and had a right stink in it.

No I didn't say that
Law last year was changed and extinguishers are checked now every 3 years.
Tanks that need replenishment or topped up form a big part of their business. They are seeing more and more Chinese tanks, and it was one of these that had the odd smell.
The smell could have come from the co2 or more likely the oil used to form the Alu tank.
I was told a homebrewer came in complaining that their beer tasted odd since they went to Co2 from a tank the homebrewer brought in originally. He subsequently bought a new tank from them and no problem since, so there are dodgy ones out there.
My advice is if you have been given a cylinder spray a small amount on a clean cloth and smell any residue.
DO THIS IN A WELL VENTILATED ROOM

Airproducts supply AJs gas and after them regularly go into Bmers in Clonmel.

Just to add to CH's warning, make sure you have windows open or better still do the test outdoors. Co2 will displace the oxygen in a room and you need that to stay alive.

Pretty sure thats just another myth, Brulosophy did a test where his testers were given normal air and 100% CO2 and he didn't get a high enough P value to prove that breathers could tell the difference.

Sorry Qs not sure you got that right can you post a link to that experiment as I will take it up directly with him.

Co2 is a killer there have been several brewery deaths in the US and even one in Carlsberg in the UK last year and that's just the brewing industry.
I have first hand experience from the dizziness from it and it needs to be treated like a toxic gas, with upmost care in confined spaces.

If you really want to see how it would affect you it's the method of choice used by abattoirs for slaughtering pigs, warning link is graphic.
