Ya, you heard it right!

Now you really can make lagers at 20 oC. Top quality lagers, pilsners. In fact anything from a hoppy pilsner to a helles.

And it gets even better since the long lagering periods are also not required anymore.

We knew this little gem was arriving and have been patiently waiting all year, and now its almost within our grasp.

Absolutely amazing!

Watch this space.

Rather that thread spoiling can I make the comment that coopers have been offering lager kit using ale yeast for a while so what's so different?
Brian please educate us ? I know there are liquid yeasts  like San Fran which ferment at ale temps but yield lager characteristics.
Is there something that I am missing here?

We have been working with yeast developers for years. Yes, the Coopers yeasts are very impressive and also remarkably temperature tolerant.

This new one has been in development for years by one of the foremost yeast developers and I expect it will be amazing.

Since it hasn't been officially released yet, I'm not at liberty to give much more info. All I can say is it will soon be (as the add goes): "available from all good HBS".

I'll get some samples for review as soon  as they arrive. No point in a raffle (very time consuming for everyone) so I'll just post one to all the clubs, and send 6 direct to NHC for distribution to mods. OK?

Sounds interesting
Ok when it comes out I'll split a 54l batch across it, 800 and Cry Havoc or San Fran whichever is available and we can do a blind taste test

This is a dry yeast, and along with the rest of the range, will offer viable alternatives to liquid yeasts.

Will be very interesting to compare against the above, especially after only a couple of weeks in the bottle.

2015 Cascade 9.3% Alpha, and Centennial 11.1% Alpha are now in our fridges and on the website. See:

and

2015 Citra will be here next week.

We've launched them at great prices, but this may not last because we are unsure about availability over the coming year; some will be like gold dust at some stage, probably soon. We'll keep the prices real for as long as we top up stocks.

Next one is Sat 28th Nov:
http://www.homebrewwest.ie/setting-up-a-small-brewery-1-day-course-saturday-28th-november-2015-5130-p.asp

Includes a presentation about step mashing, and how to avoid using chemicals.

Speidel have been making top quality German engineered Braumeisters for years, and know a thing or two about making beer.

Treat yourself to any Braumeister from us before Christmas and we will give you €1000 cash back if you buy a larger 200 or 500 litre system. Its a great opportunity to buy a small system for recipe development, and recover your investment later.

As Ireland's only Speidel agents, we provide full Speidel support, which is second to none. If you're about to invest substantial funds in a brewing venture, its important to find the best solution.

Janet from Hambleton Bard is coming back to Galway on Saturday 21st November to launch a range of impressive new products.

Many of these are a first worldwide. One product range in particular will shake up the homebrewing market big time, but its under wraps until the day.

As usual, we will be doing massive promotions in store, particularly with their new beer kit and new equipment ranges.

If you are thinking of opening a homebrew shop, this will be a great opportunity to meet one of the major manufacturers in the sector.

Hi Brian,

Holy Moley, that super shinny, insulated, connical Speidel 60 L fermenter looks the dogs!

Its just as well they don't make a 30 L version!

On a less expensive (but important note) do you have spare o-rings for the 30 L fermenting barrels?

Myself and James need a few of both the big ones and the small ones?

This beastie:

yeah, its a cool piece of kit, meant for owners of 50 litre Braumeisters (many of whom set up picos, so this setup is the closest you can get to a pico). Its not actually insulated, its got a heat exchange jacket for heating / cooling. Hence the cost.

You mean spare o-rings for these:

Hmmm, don't have them in stock but need to reorder them anyway so I could get them in for you, will be a couple of weeks though. How many of each do you need?

Citra is one cool hop, no wonder micros love it; the aroma is truly amazing. Give us a day or two to get them up on the web sites. I think its a first in Europe for 2015 Citra/Centennial/Cascade but I haven't googled too hard. Not on the main UK sites though.

Let us know what other hops you'd like. We predict there is going to be a major hop shortage, and are investing lots of bucks for our customers. We are asking our Speidel brewery customers to estimate demand for the year and are reserving stock for them. This means that although we have nearly a ton of the hops above, most of them are already booked. We will keep prices low for as long as we can restock them, or until one of our breweries nabs them.

So work with us at club level, estimate hop usage for the year if you can, and let us know. We won't "contract" you, we will simply stock it and reserve it for you. No worries if you don't buy it. Its definitely a case of better to have too much, than to have to go looking. It applies to many of the old reliables too, its not just a USA hop shortage.

That's excellent - was going to get Cascase, Centennial and Citra from the States in a few weeks, so nice to see them closer to home instead.

CTZ, Equinox, Amarillo, Simcoe would be my other hops on the American hit-list for this year, with Galaxy and Nelson from Oz.
Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison
On Tap: IPA, Helles, Best Bitter

Thanks Brian, yes thats the one we are talking about. The o-rings are not the best quality (imo) in that they are spliced and prone to discolouration and deformation. You may wish to pass this info on to Speidel!.

Before ordering I would like to get a quote from you and Speidel as I am sure we can also source silicon o-rings from "the elsquare ".

As to numbers say 5 of the big ones and 10 of the small ones
