Report: North County Brewers’ Inaugural Meet

First meeting of the North County Brewers.

Members of the National Home Club from the north side of Dublin and the environs came together for their inaugural meeting on Tuesday the 11th of December 2012. Set in the salubrious surroundings of the “Snug” in the Old Boro, Swords, the meeting was judged a great success by all who attended. The dark wood panelling, roaring fire, and large overstuffed arm chairs guaranteed a relaxed evening of beer and talk. Mark, the manager on duty, set us up with the usual equipment: glasses, carafes of water and the obligatory empty jugs.  However such was the high standard of the beers that apart from rinsing there was no need to dump dodgy beer!

This pays tribute to quality of the beer that was brought to sample.

Pictured in the photo from Left to Right, standing, are:

Ciaran McGrath – red ale
Cahalbrua – slightly peated stout
Renier, aka Ratsathome – stout, wheat and banana ale
James, aka Partridge9 – Jacob’s Pale Ale
Will_D – Vintage port to match the surroundings

And sitting: Jacob – imperial stout and gratzer, Brian Dempsey, and Nigel_c – IPA

We were honoured to have Shane, aka Tube, behind the camera, who brought a Munich dunkel, although Jacob maintained it was actually a bock.

More photos can be viewed here.

We also enjoyed the O’Hara’s Red and IPA and also tucked into the excellent food on offer.

About the North County Brewers:
We are a bunch of friends who like to brew beer, talk about brewing beer and drinking our beers. We are open to anyone from not only the Northside but from anywhere to come and join us at our monthly get-togethers. No experience necessary or needed. Come and taste what home brewers can achieve in their kitchens. The next meeting will be held in the ‘Boro at about the same time and date in January.

Exact details are to be decided here.

Until next time, Merry Christmas to all!
