First Meeting of the Belfast Homebrewers

Thanks to everyone who made the first meeting of the Belfast Homebrewers at The Hudson Bar.

We were in the back room from 7pm and covered the National Homebrew Club and competition, group buys, yeast swaps and running a brew demo. At 9pm we were to share the room with other Hudson punters enabling us to spread the gospel and direct more people to the site.

A great range and variety of tasty brews were on display including a Sierra Nevada clone, a double IPA, a spicy stout, a Duvel clone and a ginger wine. We also sampled a number of competition entrants such as Scroggy Cider (English style cider), Will Wheaton (American wheat beer), London/Delhi IPA (American IPA) and Ormeau Dark (Oatmeal stout). The night was nicely rounded off by sampling a few “commercials” including the Williams Brother’s Fraoch 22, an 11% heather ale matured in ex-sherry casks. Thanks to Paddy for the impulse purchase!

Here’s to many more and I’m already looking forward to the brew demo!
